There is no real magic to getting cheaper premiums on your California car insurance. You can surf all you want and get quotations from all over cyberspace, but if your driving record is not clean, you will end up paying a lot of money.

So how can you improve your driving record?
Try and not have accidents. If you have an accident it will be on your record for at least 3-5 years. The reason is that your accident caused the insurance company to cover the costs and so course they won’t let you get away with it. Do not fall for that forgiveness program. All companies offer this program and it only helps if you have just one accident. If you have several accidents, then there is a lot of trouble in store for you. So drive safe.

The number one factor why people have high premiums is speeding and traffic tickets. Sooner or later, if you speed a cop will get to you. In many states, this adds points. The more points you accumulate, the bigger the premium. In some cases, your license may be revoked and many insurers will drop you. So stop speeding and undergo a hazardous or a safety driving course to get cheap car insurance.

Having good credit is vital. If you pay your bills on time and act like a good citizen your premiums will be low. If you do not pay your bills on time and your credit rating is crap, then you are a liability and of course the insurer will make you pay high premiums.
The only way to lower your premiums is to wear a seat belt, obey traffic rules, do not drink and drive, reimburse your bills on time and pay attention on the road.
